A readable but unremarkable collection of historically overlooked short stories. Though often possessed of comely prose, few are satisfying as mysteries—tending to some combination of character vignette without detection, token framework for clever ‘shock’ ending, or revelation based on withheld information.

A pleasant graphic novel that channels the spirit of the Charlie Brown television specials rather than the Peanuts comic strip. There are some nice character moments and shout-outs, and a few laughs. The gang’s new Scottish friend Nell proves a welcome addition.

While writing in a style evoking the tv show’s snapshot paciness, Colgan nevertheless crafts a solid historical setting — a Scottish island under both Viking and alien incursion — and adds depth to the mercurial flitting about of Matt Smith’s otherworldly (yet unworldly) Doctor.
