An important episode in Amy and Rory’s storyline. Gentle humour, endearing character moments, but the ‘stuff of nightmares’ Shakri are brushed aside with laughable ease. Chibnall might have done better to spend less time on Rory’s dad and more on the resolution.

Without source material tangling its roots, Good Omens blossoms into a gloriously satirical excoriation of biblical schtick and the whole good versus evil dichotomy. Aziraphale and Crowley make for one of TV’s great odd couples. Michael Sheen puts in a bravura performance.

Cleverly executed, presenting initially as a standalone special then morphing into a bridge between series. Gatiss and Moffat indulge in some social commentary while poking gentle fun at the original Sherlock Holmes canon. Cumberbatch and Freeman (especially) revel in the old-fashioned characterisation.
